Salem State University celebrates the lunar new year with performances from many different Asian cultures, including dancing, fashion and Japanese drumming.

As part of the ongoing diversity series at Lesley University, the Office of Student Activities presents ONE for a performance in the Student Center, Friday, January 27th at 6pm. The diversity series includes performances from a variety of groups such as the Cuban Creole Choir, and discussions of topics such as Native American Stereotypes.

Odaiko New England joins Scottish pipers, New Orleans jazz brass, an Italian folk ensemble, a Mexican mariachi and African drummers as part of Bridgewater University's World Music Festival. Admission is free and open to the public. Donations will go to Friends of Maiti Nepal.

Odaiko New England’s thunderous taiko rhythms will energize more than 40,000 walkers at this year’s Walk for Hunger in support of Project Bread. We’ll be playing on the Boston Common at the finish line of the 20-mile route. We look forward to again sharing our spirit and joy with walkers at the end of a long and admirable journey.

The Genki Spark is bringing together three Boston area taiko groups for an afternoon of celebration, with music, bon odori dance, crafts, food, and, of course, taiko drumming. Odaiko New England joins the Genki Spark and Rutsubo Taiko at the Brookline High School to celebrate the cherry blossoms and have a lot of fun. Come join us!

The event is co-Sponsored by Brookline High School and in collaboration with the Consulate General's Office of Japan, Brookline Asian American Family Network, Brookline Commission for the Arts, the Japanese American Citizen's League, and The Lawrence School.

Odaiko New England is pleased to help celebrate the reopening of Worcester Art Museum's Japanese galleries featuring some of the museum's Hokusai prints. Worcester Art Museum is world-renowned for its 35,000-piece collection of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, prints, drawings and new media. The works span 5,000 years of art and culture.

Odaiko New England will be performing at 6:00pm and 7:00pm.

Cherry Blossom Festival

Odaiko New England returns to Rhode Island's Cherry Blossom Festival (Sakura Matsuri), celebrating the cherry trees planted on Roosevelt Avenue in Central Falls and Pawtucket. This year ONE is also performing in Woonsocket.

Take a tour of the world at the Woburn Worldfest. Visitors can enjoy artwork, fair trade crafts, activities, cultural displays, and of course food from around the world. Odaiko New England opens the festivies at 1:00pm. WorldFest will take place on the Woburn Public Library Lawn at 45 Pleasant Street. Rain location is the United Methodist Church, 523 Main Street.

The 33rd Cambridge River Festival is a free event along the banks of the Charles River featuring jazz, folk, roots and world music performances, as well as dance, art demonstrations, family art-making activities and over 100 specialty food purveyors and craftspeople. Odaiko New England is proud to be a part of this amazing event.

Cambridge Riverfest

Bay Farm Montessori Academy brings Odaiko New England to their 3rd annual International Fair to teach about Japanese drumming. Families are invited to come and enjoy a day filled with international flavors and artistic beauty from around the world. The fair will feature exhibits offering multicultural arts, crafts, merchandise, fun games, children’s activities, international cuisine, and performances by a variety of artists.

The Americian Cancer Society's Relay for Life is an annual event to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer. Teams walk from the afternoon into the morning of the next day to honor both those who have lost the battle against cancer and to celebrate those who have survived. It is inspiring and Odaiko New England gladly shares the energy of taiko with those walking. We also can't help but walk a lap ourselves.

Relay for Life in Needham

Odaiko New England is pleased to be bringing Japanese drumming to PortConMaine for the first time. PortConMaine is Maine's first, longest running, and largest convention celebrating geek culture interests including anime, gaming, science fiction, costuming, fantasy, comics, video gaming, boffer combat, steampunk, and more. Convention admission is required to see the performance.
