Odaiko New England’s thunderous taiko rhythms will energize more than 40,000 walkers at this year’s Walk for Hunger in support of Project Bread. We’ll be playing on the Boston Common at the finish line of the 20-mile route. We look forward to sharing our spirit and joy with walkers at the end of a long and admirable journey.

Boston Pride Parade

The Pride Parade is an exuberant part of the celebrations during Boston's Pride Week. This year's Parade, on Saturday June 12, will wend its way from Tremont street in the South End to Government Center come rain or shine. Odaiko New England will be marching with MAP for Health, QAPA, and MASALA toward the front end of the Parade.

Located at Government Center, the Pride Festival will feature live musical acts on the Plaza, a Family Fun Zone, Food and Merchandise Vendors, a Celebrity (Beer) Garden, and much more. Come join us for a day of fun. Odaiko New England will perform on the Main Stage from 2:50PM-3:10PM. Be sure to stop by our booth to check out our new merchandise, make your own hachimaki (headband), and say Hello!

Boston Dragon Boats

Boston Dragon Boat Festival

Boston's Dragon Boat Festival transforms ancient traditions into an exciting cultural event and is the longest-running dragon boat festival in North America. Odaiko New England is thrilled to once again send some noise across the Charles River toward the Boston-side races.

The Cambridge-side festival starts at 12:00 noon and admission is free. Odaiko New England performs at 4:30 pm

Woburn, MA

Odaiko New England returns to the North Suburban YMCA in Woburn for the annual outdoor movie and barbeque event. The barbeque begins at 7 pm, drumming starts at 7:30 pm and the movie will start at 8 pm.

Prices for this event are $10 for NSYMCA non-members, $5 for NSYMCA program members and free for NSYMCA family members. To sign up for the event, visit the Welcome Center Desk at NSYMCA.

In the event of rain, the movie will be shown inside in the gym.

Newport Black Ships Festival

Newport Black Ships Festival

Odaiko New England performs at the Newport Black Ships Festival, hosted by the Japan-America Society of Rhode Island.

Friday's Gala will be held at the Rosecliff mansion and will start at 6:30pm. Tickets are $150 and this is a black tie/kimono event.

Saturday's Prelude will be held at the Brick Market and Odaiko New England will perform at 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm.

Sunday's Festival of Drums will be held at
Cardine’s Field and will start at 11:00 am.

Also on Sunday is the Kickoff performance for the Newport Gulls baseball game at 5:30 pm.

Odaiko New England travels to the historic mill town of Newmarket, NH, for the 13th annual Newmarket Heritage Festival—a weekend of music and dance, arts and history, food and fun. Odaiko New England is just one of the amazing performances happening during the festival, including African drumming, New England fiddling, and Polish accordion tunes; Irish, Indian, and Laotian dancing; a Chinese yo-yo demonstration, and a Bollywood dance workshop along with other events and activities.

Cocasset River Recreation Area Fundraiser

Foxboro, Ma. Odaiko New England is pleased to be part of the Friends of Camp St. Augustine’s fundraiser for the Cocasset River Recreation Area. The event will help raise funds for the development of their new “Hiking and Nature Trail”. The event is outdoors at the Cocasset River Recration Area. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Taylor Elementary School Gymnasium, 196 South Street, Foxboro.

There will also be a “pre-show” of juggling, fire spinning, and samplings of Japanese food from our local Kyoto Restaurant from 7pm to 7:30pm, with Odaiko New England as the main event at 7:30pm. This is definitely an event for friends and family.

International Family Festival: Celebrating our Japanese Connections

Odaiko New England adds the taiko pulse to an afternoon of family exploration of Japanese culture. This event is presented free of charge by the Medford Family Network, the Japanese Language School of Greater Boston (celebrating 35 years), and Springstep. The event runs from 1 to 4pm.

Japan Festival Day at The Porter Exchange

The restaurants and businesses of the Porter Exchange are bringing Odaiko New England to their Japan Festival Day. Events include live koto and shamisen music complimented with a dancing performance by Sumie Kaneko and Michiko Kurata, an aikido demonstration by Yasu Itoh, origami, fortune telling, tea tasting, otedama (juggling), calligraphy, yo-yo tsuri (water balloon fishing) and, of course, taiko. The Porter Exchange building is only a few minutes walk from Porter Square and contains an amazing variety of Japanese food and gifts.
