Lesley University Diversity Series

World Music Festival

Walk for Hunger
Boston Common at the finish line
Odaiko New England’s thunderous taiko rhythms will energize more than 40,000 walkers at this year’s Walk for Hunger in support of Project Bread. We’ll be playing on the Boston Common at the finish line of the 20-mile route. We look forward to again sharing our spirit and joy with walkers at the end of a long and admirable journey.

Sakura Matsuri 'Genki-Style': Centennial Celebration of the Gift of Trees
Brookline
The Genki Spark is bringing together three Boston area taiko groups for an afternoon of celebration, with music, bon odori dance, crafts, food, and, of course, taiko drumming. Odaiko New England joins the Genki Spark and Rutsubo Taiko at the Brookline High School to celebrate the cherry blossoms and have a lot of fun. Come join us!
The event is co-Sponsored by Brookline High School and
in collaboration with the Consulate General's Office of Japan, Brookline Asian American Family Network, Brookline Commission for the Arts, the Japanese American Citizen's League, and The Lawrence School.

Odaiko New England is pleased to help celebrate the reopening of Worcester Art Museum's Japanese galleries featuring some of the museum's Hokusai prints. Worcester Art Museum is world-renowned for its 35,000-piece collection of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, prints, drawings and new media. The works span 5,000 years of art and culture.

Relay For Life
Needham Ma
The Americian Cancer Society's Relay for Life is
an annual event to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer. Teams
walk from the afternoon into the morning of the next day to honor
both those who have lost the battle against cancer and to celebrate
those who have survived. It is inspiring and Odaiko New England
gladly shares the energy of taiko with those walking. We also can't
help but walk a lap ourselves.

The Adrian Martinez Classic

Newport Black Ships Festival
Odaiko New England performs at the Newport Black Ships Festival,
hosted by the Japan-America Society of Rhode Island.
Friday's Gala will be held at the Rosecliff mansion and will start at 6:30pm. Tickets are $150 and this is a black tie/kimono event. This year the Gala will feature Odaiko New England's founder, Elaine Fong.
Saturday's Prelude will be held at the
Long Wharf Mall and Odaiko New England will perform at 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm.
Sunday's Festival of Drums will be held at
Cardine’s Field and will start at noon.
All of these festivities happen in Newport, RI.

Odaiko New England adds the taiko pulse to an
afternoon of family exploration of diversity in Medford.
This is a free family event, but they do request advance registration, so please call the Medford Family Network to register: 781-393-2106. The event runs from 2:00 to 4:30pm and O.N.E. will be opening the festival.
