Walk for Hunger @ Boston Common

For the seventh consecutive year, Odaiko New England will energize more than 40,000 walkers at this year’s Walk for Hunger. On Sunday May 3rd, come hear our thunderous taiko rhythms on the Boston Common at the finish line of the 20-mile route. We look forward to sharing our spirit and joy in support of Project Bread and the walkers!

Tibet Elderly Help’s International Musical Art @ Regent Theater

Tibetan Elderly Help is a non-profit that raises money to help elder Tibetans in India, Tibet and Nepal. Join us for their International Musical Art special fund-raising event which will include drumming, dancing and music-making from around the world.

Tickets are Adults: $25, Children (15 and under) $15. Buy them online or tickets may also be available at the entrance gate from 6.00 pm if they are not sold out.

Omiyage Workshop @ ACAS

Omiyage Players: Join us for a workshop with Shoji Kameda (composer of Omiyage) and On Ensemble member Maz Baba. This workshop focuses on movement and flow from the core, and how to direct that movement into the long phrases of Omiyage.

Prerequisite: Players must be able to play the Omiyage Chu part from beginning to end. If you don’t know Omiyage, or are just beginning to learn it, you are welcome to audit the workshop.

Ota-Salem Obon Festival Celebration @ Peabody Essex Museum

Salem-Ota Cultural Exchange and students from Ota City, Tokyo celebrate Obon together at the Peabody Essex Museum. Come for some amazing taiko, and after the performance participate in bon odori (festival dancing.)

This event is included with museum admission.
