Bring the kids for the Institute of Contemporary Art’s Play Date: Creating Wonderful Worlds. Once a month the ICA fills with activities for kids and adults to do together and Odaiko New England will be a part of it this July! The event runs from noon to 3pm.
“Admission is FREE for up to 2 adults per family when accompanied by children ages 12 and under. Youth 17 and under are always admitted free to the ICA.”
Join us at Savoy Bookshop and Cafe in Westerly RI for the launch of Jasmine Toguchi: Drummer Girl. There will be a reading, book signing and, since we’ll be there, taiko! The event is from 3-4pm.
Jasmine Toguchi: Drummer Girl about an 8-year-old girl looking for her talent for a talent show and she chooses to learn taiko!
The author, Debbi Michiko Florence, researched her book with Odaiko New England and we are pleased to be helping her launch the book!
Does your child want to be like Jasmine? Check out our Taiko for Kids.
Odaiko New England (ONE) is a premier Japanese drumming group in New England. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary and new location in Arlington. Come see and hear what ONE has to offer!
After practicing over 20 years in Woburn, we found a new home in Arlington early this year. This event is our way of saying “Hello” to our new neighbors and show what taiko drumming is all about, and share our love for taiko. You will see different kind of drums, different style of drumming, and have a sneak peak of our new songs in progress, how our school shows would look like, and of course, try some drumming yourself!
All ages are welcome although taiko drumming can get really loud, so those who have sensitive hearing, we recommend bringing ear plugs.
FREE for public (donation appreciated).
