Artistic Director of Shidara

Chabo co-founded Shidara in 1989 in Komaki, Japan. Needing more space, the group soon moved to Toei, a tiny village nestled deep in the mountains of central Japan. Soon afterwards, Chabo's new composition, "Niebuchi," helped Shidara sweep the 2002 Tokyo Taiko Championships.

Under Chabo's long-standing direction, Shidara has become one of the top professional taiko groups in Japan. As the group's principal director and instructor, she writes and choreographs all of Shidara's cutting-edge contemporary compositions.

A talented composer, musician and instructor, Chabo is widely sought after for taiko and flute instruction in Japan and around the globe.
