The Taiko 10 at North American Taiko Conference

Odaiko New England was honored to perform at the 2009 Taiko 10, a community concert held in association with the biennial North American Taiko Conference. The Taiko 10 showcases the geographic, cultural, and artistic diversity that has developed within the North American taiko community– each group gets 10 minutes to show off their own interpretation of this unique and ever-evolving art form.

Before leaving for LA, Odaiko New England Ensemble member Kristen Koyama wrote a blog article about the history and meaning of the Taiko Ten for Odaiko New England. During the confrence and afterwards, many of the other members who attended also shared their reflections on the experience.
