This class is open to adults and teens.

Taiko is a dynamic style of drumming based on Japanese tradition. It combines rhythm, power, grace, stamina and mental discipline to create a moving experience for both the player and the observer.

This class will introduce students to the powerful experience of taiko. Emphasis will be placed on the fundamentals of taiko and on the impact of kumidaiko, ensemble drumming. Students will study the basic form and techniques, as well as the philosophies behind taiko and its cultural context. Students will also learn several exercises and songs.

This class is entirely hands on! Students will be undergoing physical training and should expect a workout every class.
